This is decidedly a 5-star recipe. We have been making this for years and love it ! It ‘s a try and truthful never-fail party pleasing darling. You can even prepare it ( not bake ) in the dawn or night before and store it the electric refrigerator until it ‘s prison term to cook it. You do need to cook a little longer since you are starting with very cold ingredients. update : I equitable made this again last nox. I got this recipe from a acquaintance in college manay moonlight ago and had lost it. I am therefore felicitous to see this recipe as it is my favored way to make meat loaf. I highly reccomend this and the lone thing I would suggest is to use a meat thermometer to check for doneness. The tomato juice and overact give it a pinkness that makes it hard to tell when it ‘s done. This recipe will be appearing on my menu this week ! ! ! helpful ( 23 )

Great recipe. I followed it pretty closely but changed it as follows : Used 3 oz Prosciutto rather of ham. Used provolone alternatively of mozz. Added 1 sliced green onion sprinkled on the kernel before the ham. Used 1.5lb 97 % grate beef and.5 pound meek italian blimp. entirely had to bake mine for 60 minutes besides. next time I ‘ll credibly skip the salt but overall a commodity recipe ! helpful

There is one thing that makes this recipe better and that ‘s creativity. every meter I make this I fiddle about and it ‘s always capital. Try using prosciutto ham salami or prosciutto salami for the inside kernel. I ‘ve added italian sausage filling to the grind beef with great results. I besides like to add sun dried tomatoes or mushrooms inside ampere well. On fancier occasions I ‘ve been known to serve it on top of a bed of spaghetti with burn butter and parmesan. helpful ( 18 )

Made this a few times and its a hit every clock. A great wrench on boring meat loaf ! ! I omit the tomato juice though. And it does n’t seem to miss it ! Do n’t like the taste of tomato juice in the meat loaf and tomato juice actually reacts ill with aluminum thwart if you ‘re using it. A great magnetic declination is to use smoke ham ! very tasty. helpful ( 17 )

This meat loaf was tasty and identical fat. I added a bit of parmesan romano blend to my meat loaf desegregate to make it taste like I would make my meatballs. I enjoyed the cheese ( I used provolone ) however the delicatessen overact tasted a bite out of identify in my opinion. I may not add kernel future time or if I do I might consider capicola or some italian delicatessen kernel. The rolling method went easier than I expected and I served this with penne tossed with homemade sauce I besides put a little sauce on the meat loaf before I topped with the tall mallow slices. helpful ( 16 )

excellent recipe. identical exchangeable to what I ‘ve had in Sicily. I ‘ve since changed it from kernel roll to kernel rolls however. Rather than ending up with one boastfully loaf of bread I ‘ve made rolls of 5×3 – 5×5 inches. Using one while of ham and cheese rolled then breaded then fried in a frying pan. This is more of what I ‘ve been accustomed to having in Sicily. Nonetheless the taste in either format is divine and delightful. helpful ( 15 )
